  • Ensure all installation works are complete as per approved method statement for installation of CCTV system. Also ensure that IT data network is ready and commissioned.
  • Make sure all cables/wires for CCTV system has been tested for continuity.
  • First Step involved in pre commissioning is to establish LAN network between camera and commissioning laptop.
  • Connect IP camera network port to the portable POE network switch from the patch panel in respective communication room. Plug the commissioning laptop to the other port of the portable network switch.
  • Set the IP address of commissioning laptop to the required range.
  • From the commissioning laptop run “Configuration Manager” application. Then press search.
  • Fixed dome IP camera with default IP address will be discovered in IP Installer windows.
  • Click “Manual Set” button on the IP Installer application and set the IP address of the camera as per your own IT network plan.
  • Now change the IP address of commissioning laptop same as of IT network plan and again discover the camera through IP Installer application.
  • Once the camera is discovered double click on it, web browser for the camera will open “Live Monitoring View” screen will open. Go to setup then camera setup then focus setup.
  • Adjust zoom and focus for the camera lens to the desired field of view
  • Go to system setup then time and date setup.
  • Check Synchronize with the time of PC define IP address of the related communication server.

  • First step involved in pre commissioning is to establish LAN network between Encoder and commissioning laptop.
  • Connect network port to the portable POE network switch from the patch panel in respective communication room. Plug the commissioning laptop to the other port of the portable network switch
  • Set the IP address of commissioning laptop to the required range
  • Open the video encoder with default IP address from web browser.
  • Enter the Username with Password
  • Go to encoder settings for selecting the profile
  • Now go to system settings and set password and date and time. For date and time define the IP address of respective communication gateway.
  • Go to network settings and change the IP address same as of IT network plan.
  • Now change the IP address of commissioning laptop same as of IT network plan.
  • Open the web browser of encoder with new IP address.
  • Login to encoder web browser by entering user name and password.
  • Go to live monitoring view page and adjust the focus of camera.
  • Focusing of camera to be done manually from camera lens.
  • Pre commissioning of encoder and camera is complete.

Commissioning of Fixed Dome IP Cameras

  • Open the CCTV application on the desktop client.
  • Login – using the user name and password.
  • Create the site tree e.g. levels 02, level 3 or floor 1 etc
  • Go to “System Tool Box” then “All devices” then “CCTV System”.
  • From CCTV System go to IP camera.
  • Define Camera name, CG, Site name, Device Type, Time zone, IP address.
  • Now click on the NVR configuration and define IP address of NVR, Video data backup path, Retention period. Click ok.
  • IP camera is created with its NVR association.
  • Go to the device browser and right click on the IP camera then press discover. H264 and MPEG profile of the camera will be discovered.
  • Now right click on IP camera and press edit. Select live video profile as H264 and NVR profile as MPEG.
  • Open the Video Viewer from software i.e. Fusion toolbar. Drag the IP camera from device browser and drop it into any pane. Live video of camera will be displayed.

Commissioning of Analogue Camera with Encoder

  • Open the CCTV application on the desktop client.
  • Login using the user name and password
  • Create the site tree i.e. floor 01, 02, or level 02, level 03
  • Go to “System Tool Box” then “All devices” then “CCTV System”.
  • From CCTV System, go to IP encoder.
  • Define Encoder name, CG, Site name, Device Type Time zone, IP address. Now click on the NVR configuration and define IP address of NVR, Video data backup path, Retention period. Click ok
  • Video encoder is created with its NVR association.

When it comes to the health of your security system, there are a few simple checks and maintenance tasks you can carry out at home without any specialist equipment to keep your system in good condition.

Camera lens

  • Check the camera lens is focused and adjusted properly
  • Check the camera view hasn’t been knocked off path and you can see your property perimeter clearly
  • Clean any dust or marks off the camera lens with a can of compressed air and wipe down the camera casing with a microfibre cloth
  • Check that the motion detection sensors are working, if you have them
  • Use your controller to check that the camera’s functions, such as zoom and pan are working correctly
  • Trim back any foliage that may be obscuring the view
  • Check that the cameras are securely attached to the wall

Wiring

  • Check wiring for any wear and tear or exposed wires
  • Check for loose wires
  • Check that you’re getting a clear transmission of sound and picture with no distortion

Monitors and recording equipment

  • Check that the monitors are showing a clear picture and that the brightness and contrast settings are correctly adjusted
  • Check all of your switches and individual equipment are functioning fully
  • Clean all monitors and equipment of dust and grime with a microfibre cloth and a weak cleaning solution
  • Check cables leading from the equipment are in good condition and that there are no weak connections
  • Check that the correct time and date stamp is set

If when carrying out your maintenance checks you come across any faults or issues for concern, be sure to contact your local CCTV expert to fix the problem as soon as possible.

How often should my security system be checked?

The amount of maintenance your CCTV cameras will need is dependent on their location and how easily knocked or damaged they are, but we’d recommend looking over your CCTV cameras at least once a month to ensure that they are functioning properly and keeping your property protected.
